THE HEIRESS has a 19th century setting, but it is surprisingly modern. The play is a subtle and emotionally-charged psychological portrait of three well-meaning but doomed individuals looking for happiness - a superb study of the nature of love and missed opportunities.
The play is also a showcase for great acting. The cast included Cherry Jones (Angels in America) as the heiress and Philip Bosco (Tony and Emmy-winning actor, An Inspector Calls) as her father.
This production was staged by Gerald Gutierrez (Abe Lincoln In Illinois, Playboy of the West Indies and The Most Happy Fella previously at LCT). The Abe Lincoln collaborators will be returning for THE HEIRESS: John Lee Beatty (sets), Jane Greenwood (costumes), Beverly Emmons (lighting), Aural Fixation (sound) and Robert Waldman (music).
